Congratulations to the Troy boys’ bowling team, Coaches Doug Stone and Mark Isner as they qualified for the OHSAA State Championship Tournament, tenaciously holding on to the fifth and final spot at the District Tournament today at Beaver-Vu. After a slow start in 17th place (of 24) after the first game, Troy found the mark and jumped rapidly to fifth place heading into baker play. Troy fended off Mason and Oak Hills down the wire. Mason actually tied Troy at one point and Oak Hills came within 15 pins before a strong finish by the Troy team secured the fifth and final spot for the OHSAA Division I State Championship Tournament on Saturday, March 9 at Wayne Webb Columbus Bowl. This is the boys first trip to the State Championships since 2013 and their seventh trip overall.
First game 913 – 17th place, 119 under cut
Second game 1,095 – 8th place, 19 under cut
Third Game 1,047 – 5th place, 22 pins above cut
Baker 1,270 for 6 games (211 avg) stayed in fifth during the 6 Baker games.
